Some People!

Yesterday morning proved to be an interesting experience at my store. We had your typical early morning customers wanting to pay a bill or upgrade their phone. Sometimes we can help them and sometimes we can't. Usually, they are understanding of the limits of our store (we are a sales-only location, we do NO repairs or replacements) and choose from the options presented to them (go to one of our repair locations to have their phone replaced). But yesterday, we had THE CUSTOMER. We knew he was THE CUSTOMER because he told us several times.

He was under the impression the we were a repair location and was not willing to accept the fact that we could not replace his phone. We couldn't even have exchanged it for him within his thirty day window because
1)He did not have his receipt and all of his original packaging with him
2)We did not have the phone in stock

We tried to explain the policy to him. We tried to explain that he could get his phone either repaired or replaced at one of our three repair locations in the Austin area. We even called the other two locations that were open on Sunday to make sure they had the phone in stock. But he was THE CUSTOMER and he had been sick with walking pneumonia for over a week and he shouldn't even be out driving around right now and he was from New York and didn't like driving all over the place anyway and he shouldn't have to do ANYTHING. We should repair his phone right there and then because he was THE CUSTOMER!!!!!

The whole time he was pitching his little titty-fit in our store, he was hacking up what sounded like green phlegm and spreading his germs all over our store. I kept thinking:

If you're so sick, what are you doing spreading your germs all over the public?
If you're from New York and don't like driving, why the hell did you move to TEXAS?!?!?!
If you're so tired of people thinking that people from New York are jerks, why do you keep acting like one?

Sometimes I just don't understand people. Needless to say, after he finally left (almost an hour after he walked through the door) I took out the disinfectant spray and wiped down every surface in the store that a nasty green gob of walking pneumonia germs could have rested on. The LAST thing I need at 21 weeks preggers is to come down with something terrible like that, even if it is a gift from THE CUSTOMER.
